Daniel 3:17-18

Daniel 3:17-18 "If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up."

Incisional Hernia

It turns out that about 15% of abdominal surgery patients develop incisional hernias.

So NOW they tell me!

My rectal surgeon referred me to a hernia surgeon to get mine fixed. This will be surgery number three for me. Cancer certainly leaves its mark!

I saw my rectal surgeon yesterday for my three monthly check up. He put his nifty little camera up my bum again to see how things are healing inside. Carla was with me and got to watch the whole thing on the monitor. She said my insides looked pink and healthy. I thought she was pretty lucky to be there. Not everybody gets to see this side of me. My surgeon told me that my anastomosis was almost invisible in places and that I was a great healer.

From all reports I'd have to say I'm doing a good job keeping it together. :-)) Too bad I'm not doing so well keeping it all in...

  1. Hey ho, poor old you with another upcoming surgery. Hopefully this will be fairly minor. I think they expect you to be up and about again virtually the same day but to then take it carefully for a while. No riding bicycles or taking up rodeo!

  2. Bit crap that you've got to do yet more surgery Steve - but fingers, toes etc all crossed that this one WILL be the last one ever!

I hope Carla realises that not every wife gets to share her husband's healthy looking pink colon - cool eh.
Who'd have thought this would be a topic of conversation a couple of years ago :)

    Hugs and love always xXXx

  3. Hey Carole,
I'm just thankful this surgery is about hernias and NOT cancer!!! and yes it is very cool to be able to view Steve's healthy pink colon, especially after the last year we had.
It is a great gift to have wonderful friends to share all of this craziness with.
Thanks for being one of the best!

  4. Gee Fiona, I was so looking forward to riding the rodeo circuit this summer. Now I'm bummed. I was told that this will be an outpatient surgery, so that's nice. ((o))

  5. Carole,
Thanks for crossing everything for me. I don't even see the hernia doctor until early March, so don't start crossing just yet. And yes, pink colons are always fun to talk about. :)
    Lovin' you right back xxxx
