Daniel 3:17-18

Daniel 3:17-18 "If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up."

Just a quick shout out...

to my professors and classmates at Westminster College. Hi, guys! Thanks for finding my blog, Mark. As you can see I took the semester off to fight cancer. Coming back in January is still up in the air. So much for graduating in May. Yet again my college degree eludes me. But no worries. I'll be back!

Go! Fight! Win!

  1. Well I dont go to Westminster, but I attended one of your classes one night. So go and kick the crap out of this Stupid Cancer and then go and finish that degree. I am waiting to take that picture. Of course now I have some time to lose some weight before the picture, May is not a stress-er for me anymore. LOL.

  2. Steve I can honestly say that your absence from school is missed and I regret that I will not have the opportunity to take another class with you (unless you sign up to present your Sr. Project in the spring). You always bring so much to the class, and I feel honored to have shared the time with you.
I'm currently taking my last two CS classes and will be presenting my Sr. Project spring semester. I have a few generals to wrap up still but the plan is to wrap up next fall.
My life has been touched by cancer in many ways, and I would like to share a few of them with you...
My younger sister was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 32 and has been cancer free for 3 years now. She is expecting her fourth child later this year, and is stronger than ever.
My aunt was diagnosed with rectal cancer two years ago, and has been cancer free for the last year (she just had her latest checkup last week).
My cousin was born with Leukemia and by the age of two was miraculously cured. She went from an extremely poor prognosis to cancer free in the period of 3 weeks - she is now 30 and still cancer free, and the proud mother of an 10 month old son.
I have worn my Live Strong bracelet every day for the last 8 years, and refuse to take it off. It is a constant reminder to myself to live life to the fullest. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

  3. Steve, it was a lot of fun to take CS 306 with you. I really enjoyed the small class and our interaction with Helen. Small classes have a unique dynamic. I also really enjoyed our Computer Architecture class with Dan.

I think you are someone with so much programming experience that finishing your degree was really a formality rather than something to give you tools to start a career. As such, any delay isn't that big of a deal.

I've had my own ongoing battle with a chronic sleep disorder that has now morphed into constant stabbing pains in my head leaving me not able to do much of anything at present.

I just saw that you presented your final project so it looks like you are doing better. I bought a Vitamix and have been blending 10 servings of vegetables a day to try to do something to help me. I blend broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, tomatoes, asparagus, bok choy, kale, carrots, a red pepper, flax seed, and wheat germ every day. It is absolutely disgusting, but I think it's the ultimate cancer prevention drink! :)

    Best wishes always.
