Daniel 3:17-18

Daniel 3:17-18 "If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up."

Gingerly

gin·ger·ly
adv.
With great care or delicacy; cautiously.
adj.
Cautious; careful.

That's how I walk.

       ...or so everybody tells me.

"How are you doing,  Steve? You're walking gingerly."

"You are walking gingerly today. How's it going?"

"Hey, Steve. You're walking a bit gingerly. You sick?"

How come nobody ever says,  "Dude, you're walking!"

  1. Bet they'd have a lot to say if you started Pole Vaulting everywhere :-)

Steve, 'You're Walking - well done' (gingerly or not, as the case may be).

    Much luv xxxx

  2. Steve, "It's a Miracle!" is appropriate here I think. You ARE walking! Not only that, you ARE working, you ARE going to church, you ARE surviving cancer ... and you ARE surviving chemo! You hurt! I hear it, I sense it, and I don't like it! I am sorry to hear these rounds have been taking such a toll on you and I have not been available to even razz you properly--as an good older sister should.

I have been taking care of my family's needs, having just spent an intense, but well worth it, two weeks in Washington with Jesikah's family. From the pan into the fire, upon my return my own needs took precedence. Without Internet in Washington and "No cell phone texting" orders in place (smiles), I did not know you were feeling so yucky!

Maybe it time to kick some chemo butt! ... hey, do chemos have butts??

You are still on my hero list. Don't be thinking I've bumped you off or anything like that. My best advice? Rest, Cry, Ice Cream, Movie, Rest and Cry again. Then, repeat as often as is necessary. Intersperse regularly with hugs and stories from your children, cuddles and back rubs from your wife and blog haunting. As far as other things, they are unimportant, including work. God's got the work part covered already. He gave you the job--remember?

God's got all of us covered! Sometimes we just need to hang on for the ride! I bet the view is great at the top!!!

    Love you very much,
The Onliest, Bestest, Big Sister You Have (who by the way is glad for the position of seniority it gives her when rank has its privileges) Lauri

  3. Hi Carole,

I'll have to look into the practicality of the pole vaulting idea. :-)

Thanks for the shout out. I just thought it funny (or sad?) how many times I've heard the word 'gingerly' since I started treatment for cancer. When I heard it again the other night I thought, "There's my next blog entry."

    Sure do appreciate your support,
    Steve xx

  4. Lauri,

You're the crazy mama, gotta-support-my-little-brother-through-his-cancer, wild thing aren't you? Great to have you back on my blog. Missed ya!

For the record, working is a good, healthy activity for me. It gives me purpose, helps God continue to provide for my family, has me interacting with other people and gives me a sense of accomplishment all while letting me focus on something besides my cancer. The benefits of working out weigh the cost. I do get physically tired and give up other activities, but I can deal with those issues more easily. I need to work. I'm grateful to God for providing the job and very much grateful He's helping me keep it.

I love your enthusiasm and zest for life. I need that too. Thanks for sharing them with others. And thanks for pulling rank on me as a senior sibling only when you must. You're the Onliest, Bestest, Big Sister I Have.

Lots o luv right back at ya,
    Squiggly Teve
